Victorian Certificate of Education Vocational Major (VCE VM)

Ozford College offers two options in Year 12: the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the Victorian Certificate of Education Vocational Major (VCE VM).

Year 12 (VCE VM Study Units 3 & 4)

Year 12 is the second year of the VCE certificate program. A normal student workload in VCE VM is four Unit 3/4 sequences (each sequence is a full year subject) in a full year. Students study all core subjects (Literacy, Numeracy, Work Related Skills, Personal Development Skills). Students must also complete a VET component, consisting of a Certificate III in Business (BSB30120).

Assessment Methods

Subjects in VCE VM are assessed by a combination of:

  • Submitted Classwork
  • Practical Research
  • Project and Assignment
  • Oral Assessment
  • GAT
  • VET course practicum (180 hours)

The minimum requirement to obtain the Victorian Certificate of Education Vocational Major (VCE VM) is:

Satisfactory completion of all units which include:

  • They have at least 3 units from the English studies group (including a Unit 3-4 sequence)
  • They have at least 2 units from the core subjects listed above
  • They have 2 VET credits at Certificate II level or above: 180 hours of Vocational Education Training (VET) Certificate III in Business
  • Year 12 GAT (General Assessment Test)

Usually, these requirements mean that students must satisfactorily complete (Pass) at least six Units from the Year 11 Program (Units 1 & 2) and 5 Unit “3 / 4 Sequences” from the Year 12 Program. Some other combinations of Units from the Year 11 and Year 12 Programs may also lead to meeting the minimum requirements.

This program does NOT provide students with an ATAR for university entry.

Successful completion of this program prepares students for entry in TAFE education and / or work.
