Individuals who believe intelligence can be improved through study and practice have a growth mindset. Having a fixed mindset; is the mindset of a group of people who believe intelligence is innate and cannot be improved (Dweck, 2016). That’s why some people have a different perspective than their parents’ advice and always get annoyed when they complain about their laziness.
In Mindset’s book, Carol Dweck mentions the “CEO disease,” a group of Fixed Mindset people. This mindset always wants to be seen as highly talented, and perfect, and always wants to be first (Forbes India, 2024). Even if they want to succeed quickly, they are often discouraged and stay where they are when they face difficult things.
While people with a Growth Mindset live normal life, not so hungry for recognition but more interested in learning more. The question is always the same: What have I learned, and will I know? How will I fix it? They would rather walk than stay still.
Many young people now have a fixed mindset and leave their lives for useless things. They think their efforts are vain; people with God-given intelligence will always be more successful than them. That’s why they gave up. A fixed mindset is a knife that is stabbing their growth and success.
An example of a Growth mindset is the father of modern physics, the most influential scientist of the 20th century, Albert Einstein. He was said to be retarded and mentally retarded, but he became one of the most famous physicists in human history with his efforts.
This life will never stop, just like humans must constantly strive, and diligence becomes one of the indispensable virtues of man. Not only does it mean working hard, but it also means rising up, improving yourself, and not being complacent with what you have. Only then, success and knowledge will find you.
