The year 11 students have just returned from a wonderful 4 day excursion to Ballarat in central Victoria. For those of you who don’t know Ballarat is about 110 km outside of Melbourne and home to the historical gold fields.
Indeed from 1851 till the turn of the century Ballarat was one of the main Gold mining centres of the world, and became a famously wealthy city.
While visiting the historical Sovereign Hill mining settlement our students stepped back in time, and had an opportunity to experience life in the 1850’s.
Ballarat is not all history, there’s also a great wildlife park. Our students had the opportunity to hand feed Kangaroos and Emus and as well as get a close up look at Australia’s native reptiles.
The average age of our Year 11 students may be 17, but when you find great swing you become a little kid again.
